Akshay Anantapadmanabhan is an internationally acclaimed Carnatic percussionist with over 25 years of experience playing the mridangam, the South Indian hand drum. His lineage of learning stems from Tanjore tradition of mridangam playing under of the legendary Guru T.H. Subash Chandran, an icon of the Carnatic music world. He is known for his distinct tonality, balance and versatile approach to music and has become one of the most sought after mridangam artistes today. Akshay has accompanied and toured with leading artistes in the Carnatic, Hindustani an field across the globe, engaged with thousands of students in Carnatic rhythm workshops, and has straddled Carnatic instruments into notable cross-genre collaborations.
